We are making a slight adjustment to our Sunday School schedule which will be effective the first Sunday in Lent.
Feb. 26 we are returning to the old time schedule of 9:45 to 10:45 for class. After some discussion, the Christian Education Committee has decided that this is the best option available to allow adequate time to include an opening worship time, class time, and a fun activity as well. Beginning that Sunday, please have the children meet once again in the Multipurpose room at 9:45 for our worship opening piece each Sunday. At 10:45, the Sunday school teachers will bring the children upstairs and usher them quietly to where their parents/grandparents are sitting for worship. Thanks for helping to make this change!
SCHEDULING A MEETING?
We need your help! It is extremely important that members contact Nannette in the office to be sure that we can get your meeting, time and place on the schedule. If the meeting is on a regular schedule - let us know. If the meeting is a one time situation - let us know. The church is a very busy place - more than many folks realize. We need your help so that we can accomodate as many groups as possible as we go about our work in the Kingdom. Thanks!

For five Wednesdays before our Lenten service, we will again be hosting our Soup Suppers, beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, through March 28. The suppers will begin at 5:00 and end at 6:30 so the workers can clean up and attend worship. We are looking for proud chefs to make soup or provide bread, or dessert. Soup suppers are fun! The atmosphere is casual, family-oriented, kid-friendly and sociable. It is an opportunity to sample some great soup created by Salem members, as well as connect with them and meet new people. We can renew our spirit and reconnect with others from such simple things as socializing and sharing soup. Watch for a sign-up sheet outside the Fellowship Hall, for chefs for soup, bread, dessert and helpers to assist with the preparation, serving, and clean-up. We want to encourage individuals along with groups (committeees, circles, etc.) to sign-up to help. Any questions, or if you want to sign up, please contact Kathy McCartin - 402.727.0261.
The Youth of Salem are selling cookbooks and asking you to submit 3-5 recipes for this Salem Church cookbook. Please look for the basket in the narthex to place your recipes in. We will have someone doing pre-sales during Lent in the Narthex if you would like to buy a cookbook for yourself or friends and relatives. We want to have them printed and available for Easter. Be watching for more information on this cookbook, cost will be determined by the number of recipes and quantity of cookbooks sold. Monies will be used for the Youth Gathering trip to New Orleans in July 2012.
The donkey is coming again! He's coming back for Palm Sunday again this year for both services. If you would like to help offset the cost of rental, please see John or Peggy Cooper.
